The Robertson Screw Grudge Lives On
We are still right about this.
In 1909, P.L. Robertson invented the square-drive screw. It does not strip. It does not cam out under torque. It is, by every measurable engineering standard, the superior fastener.
In 1936, Henry Ford asked Robertson for an exclusive license. Robertson said no. Ford went with the Phillips screw, which was specifically designed to cam out so assembly line workers would not over-tighten.
Every stripped screw in the United States, for nine decades, is a Canadian saying nothing.
