Refund Policy

Full Citizen is the paid subscription for Being Canadian: $79.00 per year (USD or CAD, depending on where you buy) with a 7-day free trial. Where you bought your subscription determines who processes the payment, and therefore who processes the refund. This page covers every purchase channel.

1. The Short Version

  • Cancel during the 7-day free trial and you are never charged.
  • Bought on the web? Full refund within 7 days of any charge. Just ask.
  • Bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play? Apple or Google process the refund under their own policies. Section 3 points you to the right place.
  • Cancelling always stops the next renewal. You keep access through the end of the period you already paid for.

2. Free Trial

New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. The trial converts automatically to a paid subscription unless you cancel before it ends. Cancel at any point during the trial and no charge is made. App store trials are managed in your Apple or Google account settings; web trials are managed through the link in your Paddle receipt email.

3. Purchases Through the Apple App Store or Google Play

Apple and Google process these payments end to end. We never see your payment details and cannot issue these refunds ourselves; refund decisions follow Apple's and Google's policies, which vary by jurisdiction.

  • Apple: request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com. Manage or cancel: Settings → Your Name → Subscriptions → Being Canadian.
  • Google: request a refund at play.google.com/store/account. Manage or cancel: Google Play → Account → Payments and Subscriptions → Subscriptions → Being Canadian.

If you get stuck, email us and we will point you in the right direction. We just cannot push the refund button on Apple's or Google's behalf.

4. Purchases on the Web

Web purchases are processed by Paddle.com. Paddle is the merchant of record, which means Paddle is the legal seller on your receipt and handles payment, applicable sales tax, and refunds for web orders.

7-day refund window. Request a refund within 7 days of the first charge, or within 7 days of any renewal charge, and you get a full refund of that charge. No justification required.

To request one: email us at BeingCanadianSupport@muskoka37.ca from the address you used at checkout, or contact Paddle buyer support at paddle.net with your receipt. Either path works; we coordinate with Paddle on every request.

After 7 days: we do not prorate refunds for the unused part of the year, but you can cancel any time. Cancellation stops the next renewal and your access continues to the end of the paid period.

5. Your Statutory Rights

Nothing in this policy limits any non-waivable right you hold under the consumer protection law of your home US state or Canadian province, including the Quebec Consumer Protection Act and the Ontario Consumer Protection Act, 2002. Where those laws give you a longer or different remedy than this policy, the law applies.
